Family Mini Olympics held in January

Lancaster Rec Center
Bring your team to compete in the Lancaster Mini Olympics. Games will include bowling, archery, tennis, hockey and more, but with a Lancaster Rec twist. Prizes!

Daddy-Daughter Dance: Wednesday, February 20 or Thursday, February 21, 2013

6-8:30 p.m.
Lancaster Marriott
Young ladies, ages 5-13, and their dates are cordially invited to attend the Daddy Daughter Dance. This is for COUPLES ONLY (daddy/daughter, grandfather/granddaughter, uncle/niece, etc). Attire will be dressy. The evening will include dinner for 2, flower for daughter, and dancing.

Family Bingo Night: Friday, March 8, 2013

6:30-8:30 p.m.
Lancaster Rec Center
A fun night of bingo for parents and children! Play will be on hard cards (25c per card per game). Subs, hot dogs and drinks will be sold.

Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 23

Hamilton Elementary School (new location!)
Ages 2-10
Search for eggs - some with candy - some with prizes! Children 4 and under play games to get eggs; children ages 5 to 10 hunt for them. Held at Hamilton Elementary School.

Giant Yard Sale: Saturday, May 4, 2013

(Rain date May 18)
Earn cash selling your unwanted stuff or find inexpensive new treasures. 300+ vendors set up stands twice a year on a May and September Saturday at the Old Hamilton Watch parking lot off Rider and Columbia Avenue west of Clock Towers. Vendor space is $10 and public admission is free.

Family Film Series: June-August

Watch family movies under the stars every summer Wednesday starting at dusk at Buchanan Park. Candy and popcorn are sold just like in the movie theatre, but there's no admission fee. Bring your blankets and chairs. Movies begin at dusk.

Playground Ice Cream Social: June

Join us at one of our six playground sites for ice cream & fun!

Family Pool Party: July

Enjoy a warm summer night at the pool (for FREE!)! Games for parents & kids to compete against each other. Special food items & prizes!

Family Playground Penny Bingo: July

Join us at one of our six playground sites for an evening of Bingo!

Fall Family Fun Fest: October

Hayrides, campfire with Smores, storytelling, flashlight tag and more! What else is better on a Friday night? Bring the family and have a Fall-tastic time. Held at Conestoga Pines Barn.

Mom/Son Fall Ball: November

Young gentlemen, ages 5-13, and their dates are cordially invited to attend the Mom/Son Fall Ball. This is for COUPLES ONLY (mom/son, grandmother/grandson, aunt/nephew, etc). Attire will be dressy. The evening will include dinner for 2, photos of the evening, dancing and games. Held at the Lancaster Convention Center.

Family Cookie Decorating: December

Decorate enough cookies to enjoy throughout the season. Let the mess be on us! Held at the Lancaster Rec Center, lower level.

Family Candy Cane Hunt: December

Ages 2-14. Make a collection bag for a candy cane hunt at Musser Park. Hot chocolate and prizes available at the YWCA after the hunt. Remember your flashlight and dress warm!

Safe Sitter Babysitter's Course: Scheduled throughout school year

Get the skills and confidence to babysit for family, friends and neighbors at this medically accurate, hands-on class that teaches how to care for children and handle emergencies. One-day class for boys and girls ages 11-15 is held periodically during the school year at the Lancaster Rec Center. Class includes babysitter's manual, completion card and certificate. $29 for one-day class. Register online now.

Summer Food: June-August

Non-profit organizations within and surrounding Lancaster City can receive balanced and nutritious meals for children 18 years and under at no cost. Breakfast, lunch and snack are delivered to your site Monday through Friday. To participate, staff must attend training. Contact Jill Diller at 392-2115, x128.
