School’s out, and the adventure begins! At Lancaster Rec, we offer a diverse lineup of summer camps designed to spark creativity, build friendships, and keep kids active all summer long. Whether your child loves sports, science, gaming, or dancing, there’s a camp for them!

Our all-day campsDiscovery Day Camp, Sports of All Sorts, and Camp Optimist—include weekly themes, exciting field trips, and free lunch and snacks every day. Plus, we offer even more specialty camps, including Esports, Dance, and Robotics, for kids looking to explore new passions and skills.

  • Camp Optimist

    Conestoga Pines Park

    Ages: Students entering 1st-6th grade

    June 9 - August 15 | 8a.m.-4p.m.

    An adventure camp where your child will spend time outdoors, exploring nature and swimming every day. All campers take part in outdoor skills, sports, crafts, community activities and making memories!

    Campers can attend on a weekly basis. Parents are required to drop off and pick up their child each day.

    Please note that ELRC funding is not accepted at Camp Optimist.

  • Discovery Day Camp

    Location: To be announced

    Ages: Students entering 1st-6th grade

    June 9 - August 8 | 7a.m.-6p.m.

    Each week offers your children a chance to learn something new in connection with that week’s theme. Campers enjoy outside activities and educational stations. Campers are placed in small groups based on the grade they are entering and participate in age-appropriate activities with 40 minutes a week of instruction in literacy, art and physical education in accordance to PA State Learning Standards. The goal is to keep academic skills fresh over the summer, apply the knowledge the children have learned in a fun way, and prepare them for the next school year.

    Campers swim at Conestoga Pines Pool on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

    ELRC funding is accepted at Discovery Day Camp.

  • Sports of All Sorts Day Camp

    Location: Wickersham

    Ages: Students entering 1st-6th grade

    June 9 - August 8 | 7a.m.-6p.m.

    Sports of All Sorts Day Camp offers your child a full day of sports fun, including fitness and wellness activities. At Lancaster Rec, we believe in fostering age-appropriate learning in a fun, sports-oriented atmosphere. Children will receive positive feedback for their participation, teamwork and sportsmanship.

    Campers swim at Conestoga Pines Pool on Mondays and Fridays.

    ELRC funding is accepted at Sports of All Sorts Day Camp.

  • Shining Stars Preschool Program

    Child Development Center at McCaskey

    Ages 3-5

    June 4 - Aug 13 | 7a.m. - 5p.m.

    Shining Stars Preschool Program is an extension of our school year where we offer affordable summertime education and quality child care for your child. Our guiding philosophy is that children learn best through meaningful play. Our curriculum focuses on hands-on, child-driven activities with the staff guiding and supporting your child to the next level of his or her development.

    Shining Stars Preschool Program has attained the STAR 4 level in the state Keystone STARS quality child care initiative, the highest rating for a child care program.

    Daily breakfast, lunch and snack are included.

    ELRC funding is accepted at Shining Stars Preschool Program.

    Ages: Students entering 1st-entering 6th grade

    June 9 - July 18 | Times vary by age group

    Unleash your child’s creativity with our Robotics Camp! Using the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential system, campers will explore STEAM through hands-on building, coding, and problem-solving. Kids will develop skills in math, literacy, and teamwork while having fun with creative projects and storytelling.

    Two sessions based on age:
    Session 1 – Entering 1st-3rd grades| 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
    Session 2 – Entering 4th – 6th | 12:30 – 4:00 p.m.

    ELRC funding is accepted at Robotics Camp.

  • Beach Bash Summer Dance Camp

    Lancaster Rec Terrace Room

    Ages 5-8

    June 23-27 | 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

    Campers, ages 5-8, will embark under the sea and have fun in the sun for this beach-themed week of dance camp! Each day campers will learn new dance skills through themed dance classes, choreography, and dance games. Students will also enjoy themed crafts, songs, camp skits, and stories! The week will conclude with an informal parent performance during the last 15 minutes of camp on Friday.

  • Lights, Camera, Action Summer Dance Camp

    Lancaster Rec Terrace Room

    Ages 9-12

    July 7 - 11 | 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

    Campers will take center stage for this performance themed summer camp! Each day campers will hone their dance techniques in themed classes and work together to write their own choreography, put together costumes, and design and craft sets for an end of the week in-studio performance! This camp is for any young dancer who wants to explore the elements needed to choreograph their own dances and to let their creative side shine! The week will conclude with an informal parent performance during the last 30 minutes of camp on Friday.

  • Fairytale Fantasy Summer Dance Camp

    Lancaster Rec Terrace Room

    Ages 5-8

    July 28 - August 1 | 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

    Campers will adventure to far away lands or castles, dragons, and royalty in this fantasy themed summer camp! Each day campers will learn new dance skills through themed dance classes, choreography, an dance games. Students will also enjoy themed crafts, songs, camp skits, and stories! The week will conclude with an informal parent performance during the last 15 minutes of camp on Friday.

  • Pop Star Dreams Summer Dance Camp

    Ages 9-12

    August 12 - 15 | 9:00 a.m. - 1 p.m.

    Campers will jam out and shine bright in this pop star-themed dance summer camp! Each day campers will explore different pop music and hip hop/pop styled dancing though themed dance classes, choreography, and dance games. Students will also enjoy themed crafts, songs, and stories inspired by pop sensations they love. The week will conclude with an informal parent performance during the last 15 minutes of camp on Friday.

  • Esports Maker's Lab Summer Camp

    Rodney Park Community Building

    Ages 10-17

    June 9 - July 18 | Times vary by program

    Our Esports Maker’s Lab Summer Camp series offers a full-day, hands-on experience in gaming, esports, and maker skills.

    (Option A) Full week campers get the ultimate STEM experience on Fridays blending digital skills with real-world fabrication challenges!
    M-F | 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
    $225/week

    (Option B) Campers level-up their gaming, teamwork, and shoutcasting abilities in Esports Streamer Bootcamp.
    M-Th | 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
    $125/week

    (Option C) Campers dive into Brand & Build Camp, learning 3D printing, laser engraving, and branding techniques.
    M-F | 12:30 – 4 p.m.
    $150/week

Registration

All Summer Camp registration is now online! If you do not have access to a computer or smart phone, stop by the Lancaster Rec Center and we will help you get registered. Please note: printed registration forms will no longer be accepted. ALL registration must be done online.

Your spot is reserved once you receive a payment confirmation email from Lancaster Rec. A non-refundable registration fee of $70 per child is due at the time of registration. Children are not permitted to attend any Summer Camp program until all registration items have been turned in. A complete registration consists of the following:

  • Completed and signed Child Care Agreement
  • Completed and signed Health Assessment Form (Physical) and Immunization (Shot) Records
    • Physicals and Shot Records less than one year old are required for Grade 5
    • Children in Grades 1 through 4 are required to turn in Physicals and Shot Records (may be more than one year old)
  • Copies of any Custody/PFA Court Documents, if applicable
  • Copies of child’s IEP or IFSP, if applicable
